IMG_1358Yummy! These bars are very easy, and taste great.

Here is how I made them:

For the base:

  • 1 box red velvet cake mix
  • 1/2 cup oil (I used canola)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon water

For the Topping:

  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Grease a 9×13 baking dish.
  • Beat together the cake mix, oil, egg, and water until well combined. Dough will be very thick. Press the batter into the prepared pan. The batter doesn’t stick to your hands, so this step is easy.
  • For the topping, beat together the cream cheese, egg, sugar, and vanilla. Drop by the spoonful onto the brownie dough, or pour over (depending on the consistency). Use a  knife to swirl the topping and the red velvet together.
  • Bake for 20-30 minutes at 350 degrees, until toothpick inserted into center comes out clean.
  • Cool completely before cutting.
  • Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
